Antefil Composite Tech is a spin-off from ETH Zurich. The startup develops micro-engineered hybrid fibers for lightweight structures. They provide composite materials made from glass fibers which are individually clad in meltable and recyclable plastic. Thus the materials do not rely on time-consuming and expensive resin infusion processes. These structures could be applied in the automotive sector as door systems or in wind power as blades.
With its new hybrid thermoplastic fibers, Antefil offers energy-efficient structures through the use of fiber-reinforced plastics. It solves the production issues associated with carbon fibers as Antefil’s parts can be manufactured in high capacity, at high-quality and more time and cost efficiently. And this is why we have invested in Antefil.
The startup is currently working on several product pilots to test their business cases. They will start with the sports equipment and automotive & aerospace market, where they already have some letters of intent in place.
The startup was founded in 2022 by Christoph Schneeberger, Nicole Aegerter, Thomas Billeter and Paolo Ermani who developed the solution together at ETH Zurich. The technology is fully patented and exclusively licensed through ETH. The team has a strong technical background and has already gained valuable partners in production, intellectual property and research & development.
